Simple but Effective Head Support for Covid-19 Patients in the ICU

Do you place your patient's head laterally while in the prone position?

We know that a number of ICUs turn the patient's head from side-to-side while ventilated in the prone position. So, with the help of clinicians on the front line, we have developed the CS Disposable Lateral Head  Support (Adult), order code CSM-2410. This allows you to reposition your patient without disconnecting the tubing, therefore maintaining PEEP pressure.

Prone Face Support for Patients in the ICU

We realise that for many staff in ICU, treating a patient in the prone position is unfamiliar territory.   That is where we can help.

The simple-to-use CS ProneOne Head Support distributes pressure evenly across the patient’s forehead and cheekbones and protects the delicate nerves around the eyes.

To find out more about the CS ProneOne, or to request copies of our prone positioning guides, call our advisers now on 020 8050 4671

We're Still Here

As the country goes into lockdown and companies around the UK suspend operations, we'd like to assure our customers that we are still here to supply the supports you need to keep your patients safe in Theatre and the ICU.

Our customer service and sales advisers are now working safely from home and are available to take your calls to help you choose the best products to support your patients.

We're maintaining a skeleton staff in our warehouse to ensure your orders continue to be dispatched on the day that you place them for next working day delivery.

If you're new to CS Medical products, call 020 8050 4671 now to discuss how we can help you to help your patients.

Thinking of the Environment

We've recently been asked why our instruction for use leaflets are placed inside the plastic bag with our products, rather than being stuck to the outside of the bag.

The answer is simple: Both the bags we use and the leaflet we print can be recycled. If we were to stick labels to the bags, none of it could be recycled.

So there you have it! Next time you open one of our products, be sure to recycle the packaging.

ISO Accreditation

February is the month each year that our ISO 13485 certification is reviewed by the external auditor. This checks that we’re still working to the high standard required  by the accreditation assessors and that is expected by our customers. Once again, we have passed our audit with flying colours.

Being ISO 13485 accredited means you can be confident that:

  • All CS Medical products have been designed and tested to international standards and are fully legally compliant

  • Our staff are fully trained to provide the best advice and guidance

  • Our systems are regularly audited to ensure they are working properly and in the best way

  • We are constantly looking for ways to improve our working practices and to ensure that problems are quickly identified and rectified.

Celebrating 4 years of CS Medical

In the 4 years since CS Medical started trading, the company has gone from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, our excellent customer service and the good relationships we have with our customers.

During the past 4 years we have expanded our product range, achieved ISO accreditation and sponsored our first positioning training event. We’ve employed a dedicated team of staff in the Northwest Powerhouse region. Our products are now being used throughout

Europe, in the USA and latterly in Japan.

To celebrate our birthday, the staff headed down to our local indoor karting track

where our operations director, Ricky Dearnley-Davison emerged as the victorious

race winner.

Kyra Stirrups

Stirrups have remained the same for years, with sharp angles to collect bacteria and mechanisms that trap nurses’ hands.

Kyra’s designers have listened to the concerns of users and have designed a stirrup that is easy to use and

doesn’t have the issues of the others on the market. As an added bonus, each pair of stirrups comes with

a free cart.

Kyra stirrups are proving a huge success in the USA and we’re proud to have been selected

as the sole UK distributor.

  • Flexible boot to accommodate larger patient calves

  • Improved infection control with silicone rather than Velcro straps

  • Fin design to protect the peroneal nerve

  • Pinch points have been removed to make it safer for staff

  • Thicker pads for added pressure relief

  • 22 degrees of additional lithotomy range

Call our advisors on 020 8050 4671 to talk about our trade out scheme and stirrup audits.

Focus on Training

It is important to us that hospitals use the most appropriate supports for their patients during surgery.  With this in mind, Franziska Zwinge, Product Manager from our European distributor, Nordiska GmbH visited us this month for training. She spent time with our production team to learn how products are designed and developed. She then moved to the sales team to top up her training skills.

Franziska has a comprehensive knowledge of CS Medical products, including how and when to use them.  Nordiska's customers can be confident that they will never be recommended a product that isn't in the best interests of their patients and that they will receive customer service that is second to none.

  23 April 2019

Welcome to the USA

Patients across the USA will soon be enjoying the same levels of safety and comfort during prone surgery that CS Medical provides to hospitals throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

We're delighted that Care Surgical LLC, a subsiduary of CS Medical Ltd,

has gained many years of experience of patient positioning for surgery with

a number of companies.

CS Child Face Cushion now available

We all know that supporting children’s faces in cushions designed for adults isn’t ideal.  That’s why CS Medical has developed a cushion specifically to fit a child’s anatomy.

There will be no need to buy a new helmet, as the outer dimensions are the same as the adult cushion. The cushion will offer the same comfort and support to children aged under 8 (depending on stature) that the standard cushion offers to adults.

So what’s different?

The first difference is that the aperture for the patient’s face is smaller to support the child’s cheekbones and forehead.

Secondly, the chin end of the cushion been shortened to take into account children’s shorter necks.

Medica Trade Fair

Two of our directors, Chris Dearnley-Davison and Saul Berman, attended Medica  in Dusseldorf this month.

‘Medica is the world’s largest event for the medical sector. For more than 40 years it has been firmly established on every expert’s calendar. There are many reasons why Medica is so unique. Firstly, the event is the largest medical trade fair in the world – it attracted more than 5,100 exhibitors from 70 countries in 17 halls. Furthermore, each year, leading individuals from the fields of business, research, and politics grace this top-class event with their presence — naturally alongside tens of thousands of national and international experts and decision-makers from the sector. [It includes an] extensive exhibition and an ambitious program — which together present the entire spectrum of innovations for outpatient and clinical care’*

As always, Medica provided an excellent opportunity for Chris and Saul to speak to innovators from across the world and to learn of new research and technologies in the patient-care sector.  Keep an eye on our website for new products and developments over the coming months.

CS Medical is expanding

You speak, we listen. That’s why we’re constantly increasing the variety of products we offer. And it’s why our new offices and warehouse will have extra customer service and sales staff who can offer even more services and training.

Here are just some of the services we offer…

3D Printing for rapid prototypes

We can help you achieve that patient support that you’ve always needed but that that doesn’t exist yet.  One of our designers will sit down and discuss your idea with you. They will then produce a 3D prototype for you to try.  If you like it, we’ll make it.

3D Scanning for customised supports

Not all patients are a standard shape to fit on a standard support.  We can take a 3D scan of your patient and produce a customised face or chest support to fit them. Just call us and ask to speak to a designer for more information.

Clean area for customising patient positioning kits

Our new warehouse includes a larger clean area to ensure we can quickly customise your kits without you having to worry about your infection control being compromised.

You can find more information about our specialist kits HERE

Vacuum packing facilities

Are you short of space to store your patient positioning supports?  Some of our products can be vacuum packed, making them flatter to take up less space. Just call our customer service advisers to discuss your requirements.

Did you know we offer free evaluations of all our products?

Just call 020 8050 4671 to arrange your trial with one of our friendly sales team.
